  • Mr. Vincent H S Lo established Shui On Construction Company.
   1973  
  • Shui On Rolling Mills Ltd was established to engage in the production, trading, and wholesaling of high tensile and mild steel reinforcing bars for construction use. (Ceased business in 1995.)
   1975  
  • Shui On (Holdings) Ltd (formerly known as Shui On Investment Co Ltd) was incorporated as the Shui On Group's holding company.
   1977  
  • Ken On Concrete Co Ltd was established to engage in the ready-mixed concrete business.
   1978  
  • Won the first Private Sector Participation Scheme (PSPS) home ownership project in Yau Tong in a joint venture with the Great Eagle Group.
   1980  
  • The Properties Division was established to develop the Group's property development and investment businesses.
  • Established Far East Cement Co Ltd, a joint venture, to import and market bulk cement from Japan.
   1981  
  • Acquired majority shares in Shui On Building Contractors Ltd (formerly known as Henry Engineering & Construction Co Ltd), which held Hong Kong Government Group ‘‘C’’ licence for public building works and specialized in Government public building projects.
  • Acquired majority shares in Lamma Rock Products Ltd which held the quarry right at Lamma Island.
   1983  
  • The Corporate Mission Statement was formulated to serve as the guiding principles for all staff members.
  • Won the biggest PSPS project, Richland Gardens, in Hong Kong.
  • Established Engineering Materials Research and Laboratories Ltd (Materialab), a materials research and testing organization serving the construction industry. (The Group sold its interests in 1991.)
   1984  
  • Shui On (China) Ltd was established to develop the Group's business in the Chinese Mainland. (The Mainland business was regrouped under the respective business divisions in 1992.)
  • Acquired majority shares in Pat Davie Ltd, one of the largest interior decoration companies in Hong Kong.
   1987  
  • Shui On Centre, the Group's headquarters in Hong Kong, was completed.
  • Construction Materials Division incorporated a new subsidiary, Instant Mortars Ltd, to develop the pre-mixed mortar and screed business.
   1992  
  • Shui On Building Contractors Ltd became the first contractor in Hong Kong to obtain ISO 9002 accreditation.
  • Ken On Concrete Co Ltd was awarded the ISO 9001 certificate.
   1993  
  • Acquired 50% interest in Hua Wei Centre, Beijing.
   1994  
  • Acquired 20% interest in a vast property development project at Riverside South, New York, USA.
  • Acquired development rights for the current location of Shui On Plaza on Huai Hai Zhong Road, Shanghai.
   1995  
  • Formed Chonggong TH Cement, a 50/50 joint venture, to enter the local cement market.
  • Shui On Construction Co Ltd was awarded the ISO 9002 certificate.
   1996  
  • Acquired development rights for Rui Hong Xin Cheng in Hong Kou District, Shanghai.
   1997  
  • The Construction and Construction Materials Divisions were grouped under Shui On Construction and Materials Ltd (SOCAM), which was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
  • Shui On Plaza, a grade A office and commercial development located in Shanghai, was completed and became Shui On's headquarters in the Chinese Mainland.
  • Acquired the development rights for the Taipingqiao Area in Luwan District, Shanghai. The first phase development was named Shanghai "Xintiandi".
   1998  
  • Acquired 60% interest in the Nanjing Jiangnan Cement Co Ltd.
  • Acquired development rights of PSPS project, Bauhinia Garden at Tseung Kwan O.
   1999  
  • Shui On Building Contractors Ltd and Shui On Construction Co Ltd were both awarded the ISO 14001 environmental management system certificates.
   2000  
  • Launched SOCAM.com to cater for the internal procurement and project management control needs.
  • Acquired a cement plant in Zunyi, Guizhou Province, in a move to further expand in western China.
  • Shui On Building Contractors Ltd and Shui On Construction Co Ltd became the first companies in Hong Kong awarded the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001 certification.
  • Shui On Properties Management Ltd was awarded the ISO 9002 certificate.
  • SOCAM became the first company in Hong Kong awarded ISO 14001 by the China National Accreditation Committee for Environmental System Certification Bodies.
   2001  
  • Pat Davie Ltd and P. D. (Contractors) Ltd obtained ISO9002 certificates.
  • Became the largest producer of high grade cement in Chongqing.
  • Completed Shanghai Xintiandi North Block and Taipingqiao Lake and Park.
  • Shareholders unanimously approved SOCAM's investment in Rui Hong Xin Cheng in Shanghai at a Special General Meeting.
  • Acquired three cement operations in Guizhou and commenced construction works for two new kilns.
  • Group Chairman Mr Vincent H.S. Lo was awarded Businessman of the Year of the DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards 2001.
   2002  
  • Completed two rotary kilns in Guizhou Province and acquired Qujiang Cement in Sichuan Province, bringing annual cement production capacity in western China to six million tonnes.
  • Shanghai Xintiandi South Block officially opened.
  • Group Chairman Mr Vincent H.S. Lo was named Director of the Year - Listed Company Executive Director by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors.
  • Opened 88 Xintiandi Executive Residence in Shanghai.
   2003  
  • The Garden Phase (first phase) of Xihu Tiandi in Hangzhou officially opened.
  • Signed an agreement with the government of the Yuzhong District in Chongqing for the Hualongqiao Redevelopment Project.
   2004  
  • Established Shui On Land Limited, a substantial property company consolidating prime developments of the Shui On Group in the Chinese Mainland and backed by a prestigious group of international investors.
  • Acquired several major cement companies in Yunnan, which will have a combined annual production capacity of 4.5 million tonnes when a new kiln under construction in the provincial capital is completed.
