Shui On Building Contractors (SOBC) has been included in the Works Bureau's List of Approved Specialist Contractors for Public Works under the category of "Repair and Restoration of Historic Buildings". Only those included in this list are eligible to submit tenders for project related to repair and restoration of historic buildings in Hong Kong.

Shui On's expertise in restoration of heritage buildings is widely recognized. The Victoria-era Murray House reconstructed by Shui On in Stanley, Hong Kong has won the "Special Architectural Award for Heritage" in the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) Annual Awards 2001. The Ma Hang Village Redevelopment Phase III project, of which the reconstruction of Murray House is an important part, has won Certificate of Merit in the "Quality Building Awards 2002".

In addition to the Murray House, other restoration and related projects include the K. S. Lo Gallery, an extension of the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, the North District Park Phase I and Airport Core Programme Exhibition Centre (Homi Villa). Shui On Properties Ltd, another member of the Shui On Group, has also gained rich experience in heritage restoration through its Shanghai Xintiandi development project.
