public housing construction in Hong Kong. Since 1981, we have completed over 62,000 public
housing units as well as numerous shopping centres and public amenities in government
estates, often pioneering new town developments such as those in Ma On Shan, Tin Shui Wai
and Tung Chung. |

The company has been
selected by the Hong Kong Housing Authority as one of only six Premier League contractors,
and certain design-and-build as well as complex projects will be made available for tender
for this small group of superior contractors. Moreover, the company has been selected for
inclusion in the new category of Quality Maintenance Contractor and will enjoy more
tendering opportunities on the Housing Authority’s maintenance contracts.
In keeping with the Group's
philosophy of quality and excellence, Shui On Building Contractors was the first
contractor in Hong Kong to achieve ISO 9002 accreditation for building works in 1992 and
was also accredited with ISO 14001 in environmental management system certification in
1999 and OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety certification in 2000. The company was
twice awarded the "Contractor of the Year Award" in 1995 and 1996 by the Hong
Kong Housing Authority for its outstanding achievements in construction quality, project
progress and site safety management.
In safety and health
management, Shui On Building Contractors has achieved remarkable results. The company has
won the Best Building Works Contractor Award from the Hong Kong Housing Authority for
seven consecutive years since 1992, snatching more than 40 gold, silver and bronze awards
in addition to a number of other awards such as the Safety Training Award and the
Innovative Safety Device Award. Shui On won the Works Bureau's Considerate Contractor
Award for three consecutive years from 1996 to 1998. In 2000, Shui On was awarded the gold
award of "Building Sites - Private Sector", as well as the gold, silver and
bronze awards of "Building Sites - Public Sector" in the first Safety Award
Scheme on Good Housekeeping for the Construction Industry.
