Kong, February 5, 2004 - Shui On Construction Limited
(SOC), a subsidiary of Shui On Construction and Materials
Limited (SOCAM; stock code: 0983), has won the Silver
Award in the 2003 "Good Housekeeping Campaign"
with its Shatin Area 2B Hin Wo Lane project. Winning the
Silver Award for four consecutive years is testimony to
SOCAM's high standards in safety and health management.
The project has also received the newly added Workplace
Hygiene Recognition. This year, over 100 organizations
participated in the Good Housekeeping Competition, with
only 12 shortlisted as finalists.

Established by the Occupational Safety and Health Council
(OSHC) in 1999, the annual Good Housekeeping Campaign
aims at improving the working environment and occupational
safety and health standards as well as eliminating accidents
through promoting the 5S practice in the workplace.
The Workplace Hygiene Charter has been introduced this
year to promote the importance of keeping the workplace
clean. SOCAM has signed the Workplace Hygiene Charter
together with more than 200 organizations.
Shui On strives to provide a healthy working environment
to its staff by constantly reviewing its work procedures
and methods. The company also conducts frequent training
and promotions to raise employees' and subcontractors'
awareness of occupational health and safety issues.
With its successful implementation of the Safe Working
Cycle, the company has recently won 15 awards at the
"Construction Safety Promotional Campaign 2003"
jointly organized by OSHC and nine government and professional
bodies.
SOCAM, a member of the Shui On Group, was listed on
the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1997 and is engaged
in construction, construction materials and property
development in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland. Apart
from SOCAM, the Shui On Group has a separate, non-listed
