(Hong Kong, 17 November 2003) Shui On Building Contractors Limited (SOBC), a subsidiary of Shui On Construction and Materials Limited (SOCAM; stock code: 0983), has won several awards at the Quality Public Housing Construction and Maintenance Awards 2003, including Outstanding Contractor Gold Award under the Shopping Centre Improvement Contract Category, Outstanding Contractor Silver Award under the District Term Contract Category, Outstanding Contractor Merit Award (Construction) as well as eight awards for the company's employees and subcontractors.

The award programme is organized by the Hong Kong Housing Authority jointly with six industry bodies. Selection criteria for the awards include candidates' job-related performance as well as their professional practices on craftsmanship, environmental protection, occupational health and safety, ethical integrity, partnering and customer service.

SOBC, a leading building contractor in public housing construction in Hong Kong, has been selected by the Hong Kong Housing Authority as one of six Premier League contractors. The company has also been included in the Works Bureau's List of Approved Specialist Contractors for Public Works under the category of Repair and Restoration of Historic Buildings.
